A core tenet of our mission is to bring the best of Chinese literature to the world. That cannot be achieved without good translations. We invite pitches for translations of Chinese books that have not yet been translated, or books with translations that are now out of print.

Before submitting, translators must provide authorization to translate and publish from the writer whom they are translating.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for short but impactful works of translation, whether that be prose or poetry.

Examples of translations we love:

• Night Train, by Zhechen Xu, translated by Jeremy Tiang
• Frog, by Mo Yan, translated by Howard Goldblatt
• City Like Water, by Dorothy Tse, translated by Natascha Bruce

• The relevance of the book to present-day readers (especially for translations of a classic)
